Despite the weather, nothing puts off our intrepid excavators! Our trench in the prebendial house garden has uncovered what looks like a substantial wall foundation cut into the natural clay, and a possible pit that it ‘falls’ into. More interpretive work to be done. A lot of butchered animal bone and some interesting pottery emerging.

Following our excavation last year we are also doing some test pits in another Vicars’ Court garden to see if we can trace the medieval wall we found before. If so, a larger trench will be opened up.
