Anglo-Saxon bling

Our YAC enjoyed a good session at Nottingham University’s Lakeside Museum. Led by Emma Collet from the museum, we talked about the Anglo-Saxons, looked at some of their artefacts and then more closely at their metal work and broach designs. The young people made some broaches, turned into fridge magnets, and Sutton Hoo type helmets. The session ended off with a guided tour of the museum; one of the pieces was an Anglo-Saxon cremation urn recovered from Southwell by the Charles Daniels excavation in 1959.

Our thanks to Clare Pickersgill, Museum Keeper, for arranging a brilliant visit.
