Lincoln Sandy ware jar, fabric 1; 12th -13th century

A small group of us have been working with archaeological ceramics expert Jane Young to record and identify the Medieval fabrics we have been finding. We visited Jane’s workshop recently and saw some wonderful finds. A few examples belwo include Toynton Ware (spindle whorl) Potterhanworth jar, Bourne Ware, Midlands Purple, and on the top left Thetford ware from L9th – mid 12th.
