Field systems and reading the landscape -talk by Emily Gillott

Thursday 12th November, 2020 we were treated to an excellent presentation from Emily Gillott., Community County Archaeologist. Emily gave us a brief introduction about the palimpsest of field systems that can be read, from prehistoric times to up to the modern use of steam ploughs. The evolution of ploughs and enclosure systems had a marked effect on our farmed landscape and Emily illustrated her talk with examples from Nottinghamshire.
