Bears in Britain…

On the 21st November we had a fascinating talk given by Professor Hannah O’Regan on the history of bears and their relationship to humans in Britain. Hananh is a professor of archaeology at the University of Nottingham and has an extensive research background in such fields as human eveolution, cave archaeology and the relationship between humans and non-human species. The talk combined aspects of field work, ancient DNA, archive research and included literature and artistic sources. We certainly learnt a lot.

Hannah has collaborated on a fascinating project called Box Office Bears, link to their site here

There is also a map trail of Nottingham; “Bears of Nottingham” Link here to download
