Saturday 18th November, East Midands pottery expert Jane Young took us through the process of understanding, identifying and recording shell-tempered ceramics, with particular reference to the various Anglo-Saxon traditions. We learnt alot and this level of knowledeg will help us ensure that our pottery reports are not only more accurate, but can be available for future research purposes. We increasingly come across shell-tempered sherds that on the surface look very similar, but come from different locations and time periods. Thank you Jane.
